In literacy this week we have been learning about procedural text and instructions. For our procedural we have been making a set of instruction on how to make a paper plane, when we have finished we will swap instructions to see if someone else can make our planes. Also we have been doing work on imperative verbs; for example vanquish or cultivate. This is and example of the How to make a paper plane video this is step one. Brad 5/1

Library; Google a day

At library we were given the task to complete the science Google a day.

I am Hawaiian and have
a conservation status of CR.
My cousin, also a CR,
is Mediterranean. Our cousin
is named for eating crab, which surprisingly enough, is not
on our cousin's diet! He does, however, have an LC status.

First of all we searched up what conservation status of CR is. It means critically endangered. The second thing we searched up was LC which means least concerned. We then searched up Hawaiian CR animals and it came up with Hawaiian Monk Seal. Then we searched up Mediterranean Monk Seal. We then searched up crab eating seals and it came up with the Crabeater seal which is related to the monk seals. Their habitat is Antarctica and that was the answer.

Science Specialist

Today in science we have been researching fingerprints. Some of the interesting facts I found out were:

  • fingerprints were discovered by William Herschel in 1859
  • Our fingers have sweat glands that ooze some oils and salt onto the finger surfaces which then creates an imprint on everything we touch.

Day 1

Today the teachers in Area 5 have been experimenting with to get some posts going!!
