Life Education Caravan

Week 2 of Term 3 and we finally get to make a post!
This morning the Year 8s visited the Life Education caravan for the first of 3 sessions on substances and substance abuse.
Today we found out about how the brain develops and functions as well as how drugs can affect the way the Brian's chemical function.
Some facts we found out:

A new born baby's brain weighs 900g; at the age of 2 it weighs 1.3kg and at 20 years old it weighs 1.5kg.

The latest research says the female brain does not develop fully until 35 and for males it is 43!

The last part of the brain to develop is the area that likes rewards for doing things.
